When a trailer is the right answer
Book a trailer when the event has no building attached to it. Book one as well when the building has a restroom count built for a quieter day. Tented weddings, back-yard receptions, film base camps, groundbreakings and festival sites all qualify. If the event runs long or the bar is busy, the restroom count is usually the first thing to get uncomfortable. So plan it against the guest list rather than as an afterthought.
What the site has to provide
Three things decide whether a restroom trailer rental works on your site. First, a level place to park it, with room for a tow vehicle to get in and back out. Second, power. Third, water. A trailer can draw water from a hose connection or run from its own tank. It needs power for lights, pumps and interior fixtures. Tell us what the site already has, because a generator is a straightforward addition when there is no outlet nearby.
Where to put it
Set the trailer close enough that guests will actually walk to it. Set it far enough away that it stays out of the photographs. Behind a hedge, around a corner, or on the far side of the catering tent usually solves both. Then light the path. An unlit route across grass after dark is the part people forget, and it is the part that produces a turned ankle.
What goes alongside
A separate handwash station makes sense for a catering crew. It keeps kitchen handwashing out of the guest restrooms. Hand sanitizer stations cover the gap at a busy event.
